Practice meditation for any length of time and you’ll hear teachers talk about post-meditation. Keeping the state of mind you reach while you sit is something you want to take with you for the rest of your day after you leave the cushion. For me, that’s tricky. One of the things I’ve been learning to do is to stay sitting for a few minutes after the bell has rang. Not meditating, not focused on anything, just sitting and breathing and letting the stillness just sink in. When I do that, I find it easier to stay calm for the rest of my day.
